hahahahahahahaha! (yezz, its suppossed to be a funny story). juz a couple o days ago, i spotted a HUGE spider on the kitchen wall (abt 10cm across). being us, MMS n i became the damsels in distress for the day in kampong melayu*. MMS wanted it flattenned out but i didn't have the guts and the heart too. so i called firdaus over (since man wasn't home). fir vacuumed it and we assured MMS that it'll be dead. so i went to sch promisin MMS that we'll take the vacuum bag out later and spray it wit insecticide. and we did. we sprayed like a litre (i'm exaggerating la) o insecticide and we stared at the hole frm the bag. SUDDENLY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! 8 white creepy legs were reaching out the hole! OMG!!!!!!! and the HUGE spider lifted its body out like it was a scene coming frm hollywood's creepy crawlies sickening show! AND DID I TELL U IT WAS WHITE? yes! it was white! it was dark brown when the machine sucked it away and it came out WHITE! for the moment.... i really thought that the spirit of the spider was gonna haunt us for sucking it away. so i did what i did best. i ran out of the house. hahahaha! i left MMS screaming in the room with the insecticide while a ran over to unit 4. haha! den! hazman didn't wanna help us!!!!!!!! haaa! i dunno wud MMS did but the spider was outside of the house when i came back. she yelled, warning me the spider was close by and that caught me by surprise. i didn't think... my body just reacted... i found myself in mid air and then, i felt pain on my left hip. yeah, i jumped and i hit myself on the window ledge. hahahaha! MMS said it was the best jump she'd ever seen and it was better then the olympics. haha! mebbe i could if i were light enough la eh! haha! cut the story short, another neighbour helped us kill the poor spider. i'll miss it i guess. mebbe that was why there weren't so many roaches when i got back here aft 3 months. the spider was the 'caretaker' in my absence. heh!

well... my sleeping bag's zip is spoilt (i wonder how).
my new tv antenna is still missing.
i still haven't call ppl back home tho i really want to coz i STILL DON'T HAVE A DECENT TELEPHONE LINE.
i haven't fix the wires for the new radio.
my room is still messy.

*kampong melayu in my street where 3 out of 4 units are rented by malay singaporeans (xept for fir and MMS)

lettin off steam

i had i sucky start to the morming. the moment i woke up, i had the intuition to open my letter box, which i did. and guess wud? the phone bill actually amounted up to almost AUD$200!!!!!!!!!!!!! Masya'Allah! and to add salt to the wound, i hafta pay a $55 bucks reconnection fee if i want the line again. wudda hell? i only use the line for internet connection last year and to make my overseas call through my prepaid account. apart frm that, i never get any phonecalls from anybody. u reckon i should pay up? na uh! i'm so NOT gonna pay. its a good thing that it ain't under MY name. sheesh! the thing is that i hafta continue paying the line rental fee every month even when i'm gone. juz imagine paying $30 frm december till feb for nothin plus the oth shared bill wit ex-playmate. sheesh! rip-off!

and today was the first proper meal i had since i got here. the 1st 2 days, i ate MMS' mum's home made pastry (only one was enough to keep u full for a few hours. it was really rich). yesterday morning (okay, noon actually) i had half a glass o pepsi to school coz i couldn't open the milk bottle. i planned to eat the left over pastry over my 2hour break but i did so many things that i didn't have the time to eat till 5PM! i wonder how i went on yesterday. when i got home, i shared my home-made 'kueh's with the usual 'lepak gang'. kak Esa'a cookies are gone... hot stuff u noe! i'm lleft wit half a bottle of sarang semut and almost full bottle of peppermint choc chip cookies. after which, i helped myself to 'muntah kuching' (some deiter's delight instant food frm mustafa which wasn't really delightful). den cleaned the living room and kitchen to its former state of glory. i'm so proud of myself. i'm left with the toilet floor and my room (room will take o long time... its a continuous process throughout the year- nine months la). lemme tell u wud i had.. chicken schitzel (chicken thigh fillet) stir fried in butter and sprinkled wit parmesan cheese and chive (it was simply YUMMY!). it was served wit salad and homemade chips. all made by MMS. yuummmm.... i took a pic of it wit my camera-fon. yeay!

kay.... i think this is all i can remember for today. btw, MMS is Minah Mat Salleh- my new housemate. (yes, she's Muslim. she's a Lebanese by race, 2nd generation Ozie- oz oz oi oi oi!)

I WANT TO GO HOME!!!!!!!!!!!!!

1st day was terrible! had to move my stuff frm the previous rm to the oth room. so much junk left tt i didn't need. no gif (or jif as they call it here) to clean the house with. so much food left and brought back again. i dunno where all the baskets are, the rattan duck peg holder is gone. i dunno where the 5kg detergent has gone to, my white tank top went blakish grey coz it was left in the table for 3 months. the telephoe line has been disconnected coz the bill ain't paid. i am seriously wondering who opened the bill. dah bukak taknak bayar. taknak bayar jangan bukak la. boy how i wish i'm a super vulgar person rite now. sigh... this is what u get for going home straight away without cleaning the apartment properly 1st. and to top things off, rent has been increased to 80 oz bucks a week. if the kitchen's brand new and the paint is fresh takper la. nie wall dah banyak crack, paint peeling off, so much insects dead and alive. just imagine that! and he wants to increase the rent! sheeesh! he just increasd the bloody rent like 6 or 8 months ago by 5 bucks. now he's increasing it by 10 bucks!

i tried to organise my room till bout 0530hours. woke up at noon n got ready for school. besides apartment problems, i have school problems too. lemme juz whine bout my apartment 1st. i managed to vacuum only half of my room coz i had to lay down my matress (i didn't like my bed so i sold it off). i haven't configure how to operate my radio yet. some wires inserted wongly la nie. till now, the toilet and the kitchen and the living room isn't cleaned yet. i felt so disoriented yesterday. i juz wish that i'm a genie and i could juz wink all the dust n insects away frm the apartment.

school: i have 2 lectures going on at the same time and both are core subjects. i was advised to attend them in turns. (not funny, not advised but do-able). in 2 weeks time, i have a test coming up. now, i'm headed to my stats lecture which i dunno where the hell the building is. sweet.

disclaimer: feez, i'm not pissed at u. juz wanna whine. i paid the bills but hafta call the service provider to reconnect the stupid line. SIGH.

no... i'm not gonna commit suicide. i'm juz leaving my beloved friends and some family members behind. SIGH. don't remind me that its for my own future good coz i already know. do u know how it feels to leave some things that are so familiar to you for a long time? i'm gonna miss the chendol. (i miss it already la). there're so many things that i'm gonna miss but i'm gonna miss my friends the most!

had Tahlil for my late aunty upstairs. its been 40 days since she left us. its so different without her around. sayup sahaja suasana bila Tahlil tadi.

its not goodbye but SEE U AGAIN my friends!

ps: sab, i feel so loved by ur mum n aunt for makin me the goodies. so sorry didn't get it frm ur mum personally coz i wasn't feeling well lately.

Fasting the Day of `Ashura'

`Ashura' commemorates the day that Allah saved the Children of Israel from
Pharaoh.

Fasting on Muharram 10, known as the Day of `Ashura', expiates for the sins
of the past year. This year it corresponds with Saturday February 19th.

When the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) arrived in Madinah in 622CE, he found that the Jews there fasted on Muharram 10 and asked them the
reason for their fasting on this day. They said, "This is a blessed day. On
this day Allah saved the Children of Israel from their enemy (in Egypt) and
so Prophet Musa [Moses] fasted on this day giving thanks to Allah." The
Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said, "We are closer to Musa than
you are." He fasted on that day and commanded Muslims to fast on this day.
(Al-Bukhari).

The following year, Allah commanded the Muslims to fast the month of
Ramadan, and the fasting of `Ashura' became optional.

It is also reported that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him)
intended to fast on the ninth and tenth. Ibn `Abbas reported: The Messenger
of Allah fasted on the day of `Ashura' and ordered the people to fast on it.

The people said, "O Messenger of Allah, it is a day that the Jews and
Christians honor." The Prophet said, "When the following year comes, Allah
willing, we shall fast on the ninth." The death of the Prophet came before
the following year. (Muslim and Abu Dawud).

Virtues of the Month of Muharram & Fasting during It

Thus, according to scholars, you may choose to fast `Ashura' on three days
(ninth, tenth, and eleventh); two days (ninth and tenth); or one day only
(the tenth).

The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said, "Fasting the day of
`Ashura' (is of great merits), I hope that Allah will accept it as an
expiation for (the sins committed in) the previous year." (Muslim).

But this expiation of minor sins comes only if you avoid major sins. It is abig mistake to rely on fasting a single day to "wipe your slate clean." If
you neglect your daily Prayers or the fast of Ramadan, or if you backbite,
lie, commit adultery or other major sins, fasting on `Ashura' alone will notatone for your sins.

The great scholar Ibn Al-Qayyim Al-Jawziyya (b. 691
AH/1292 CE) wrote:

This misguided person does not know that fasting in Ramadan and praying five
times a day are much more important than fasting on the Day of Arafah and
the Day of `Ashura', and that they expiate for the sins between one Ramadan
and the next, or between one Friday and the next, so long as one avoids
major sins. But they cannot expiate for minor sins unless one also avoids
major sins; when the two things are put together, they have the strength to
expiate for minor sins. Among those deceived people may be one who thinks
that his good deeds are more than his sins, because he does not pay
attention to his bad deeds or check on his sins, but if he does a good deed
he remembers it and relies on it. This is like the one who seeks Allah's
forgiveness with his tongue (that is, by words only), and glorifies Allah by
saying "subhan Allah" one hundred times a day, then he backbites about the
Muslims and slanders their honor, and speaks all day long about things that
are not pleasing to Allah. This person is always thinking about the virtues
of his saying "subhan Allah" and saying "la ilaha illa Allah" but he pays no
attention to what has been reported concerning those who backbite, tell
lies, and slander others, or commit other sins of the tongue. They are
completely deceived.
(Al-Mawsu`ah Al-Fiqhiyyah, part 31, Ghuroor).

You may hear of some customs associated with `Ashura' such as cooking and
eating certain foods on that day, wearing kohl or henna, or even
merrymaking. Others consider this a day of mourning and wailing in honor of
the Prophet's grandson Al-Husayn, who was killed in battle on that day. The
scholar Ibn Taymiyah (b. 661 AH/1263 CE) stated that all of these are
bid`ahs (reprehensible innovations) that should be avoided.Take advantage of this opportunity to bring yourself closer to Allah on
`Ashura' by fasting and praying for forgiveness.

went to expo to 'celebrate' the new year by attending the mass Dua organised by Fakhur Razi (hope its the right spelling). we were there frm before Maghrib all the way till abt 10pm. which means; Isya' prayers were due. i found it strange coz the Ustaz didn't want us to do our Solat Isya' together. i thought that if u have any chance to Solat berjemaah, u should pounce on the chance? oh well... mebbe he'll do it the next time round! here's a joke that i really like and i'd like to share it wit whoever enjoys president bush jokes. heheheh! oh! and happy lunar new year too! cock-a-doodle-doo!

shop till you go broke!

sigh! been shoppin for my stuff. air tix, contact lens, new lenses for specs, tv... etc, etc, etc. and yes, i paid for all of em myself. (well, its not that much as compared to those who pay for their education themselves. but hey! i've never worked full time before and i don't have life savings like some of them do ).

got the laptop casing yesterday with the ever slenger junaidah. this is one person who can make your mood go ROTTEN with her stupid plus lame jokes and her 'attempted' advise which is nagging really. the most irritating voice u'll ever hear in ur entire life. and it doesn't help when u've been stabbed by steroid at the ear and u're feeling hot AND hungry. oh! and don't forget the sore throat too! sheesh!

wanted to buy SOUR plums (note: SOUR) for my sore throat. so what did the 'ever confident tak tentu pasal even when u're wrong' jun CONFIDENTLY recommend me to buy? SWEET preserved plums. so do u think that that's gonna help my sore throat? well... sure! it made my thorat more sore AND ITCHY. and to top things off, i planned to have an oily dinner. and! my cash was running low and my money's in the debit acc which i haven't receive the card. so willing or not, i had to get the expensive strepsills. oh! why not an elder sis treat the younger sis to just dinner? oh no! its a taboo to ask her to treat me! i'll be labelled as 'the bully', the 'tukang ketok' by her and also mum. hhmmm..... did i choose to be in this family? well... i'm sure everybody knows this answer.

and that also explains why i don't ask anybody to buy me stuff that i want. if i can afford it, i'll get it myself. if not, well... some things aren't meant to be mine. what bout the *hints* that i give my friends then? well... i really don't expect anything from anybody, i can depend on myself financially (note: FANANCIALLY ONLY).

oh, contunuing the issue yesterday (heh! it feels good to blog it all out! muahahahahaha!). since i was out of money, i wanted to go home la! and no, slenger didn't volunteer to treat me. she stormed off (like as if i'm gonna chase aft her) and i went home to mum's super pedas asam pedas. heh! (oh! she didn't make the asamp pedas la. juz that, well.... friends should noe how i have my rice! heheheh!)

agreed. so wud bout the bad things?

sigh. two and a half weeks left in sunny lion city. two more weekends to remember till 19th feb. still lookin for a new housemate. still sleeping over upstairs. haven't prepared a thing yet. stayin der for nine freakin months. not comin back for Raya. will be stuck in the crammy hole called 'room' for most of the times. am i lookin forard to go back? well... yes and no.

learnt somethin new last night at my sleepover. never love someone a hundred percent coz if anythin goes wrong, the only thing that's gonna happen is to you. ending up an emotional wreck. infidelity should be expected in a relationship. hhmmmm....i think its easier said than done. me? i can't say anything, not in a position to.
i have seen the 'power of lurp' *giggles*
